As you may or may not have heard, Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette’s ex-husband, is having some money issues. Us Weekly recently ran a story about the bizarre spending habits that may have led him to this mess. Sure, it involves dinosaur skulls and drinking consultants, but who doesn’t have those, right? The part that I find amusing has to do with Ms. Patricia Arquette.
When the pair met in 1987, Cage proposed to Arquette that day. She, not being completely insane, declined. So to prove he was serious, Cage offered to go on a quest to prove his love. Probably because she didn’t take him seriously, Arquette told him to bring her the following items: “an autograph from Catcher in the Rye author JD Salinger, a ‘Bob’s Big Boy’ statue and a Tibetan wedding dress.” Remarkably, he found all of these things for her, although she didn’t end up agreeing to marry him until 1995.
